About DR Foundation

The people and purpose behind the work

A Section 8 non-profit founded in New Delhi in 2018, built on the belief that education, sport, and health can transform lives — regardless of background or ability.

The Foundation

Who we are

DR Foundation, known as DRF, is a Section 8 non-profit based in New Delhi. We work at the intersection of education, sport, and health, with a focus on underprivileged youth and persons with disabilities across India.

The foundation grew out of Project Checkmate, which began in April 2016 as on-ground chess training at the National Association of the Blind in R.K. Puram, New Delhi. When the programme outgrew its informal structure, it formalised as a registered non-profit.

Today, DRF runs scholarship programmes, chess training initiatives, and health partnerships across India, aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health & Well-being) and 4 (Quality Education).

Our Mission

“To empower the world through education, sport, health, and sustainability through directed projects as well as impact investing.”
